Hey everyone and Welcome to From CJ with Love!
In this episode, we will discuss the first topic of our For The 20 Somethings series.
First one on the block Drumroll please 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
Organization!
In the beginning, no just joking, but one of the best places I have found to start, when you’re looking at your life and you want to know who you are, where you’re going, and what you’re doing is to get organized. Dun, dun, dun, yeah, I know organization. Everybody’s new, life trend is actually the old life trend. One of the things that was always stressed into me as a child was organization, something that I did not pick up. Let me tell y’all I did not pick up on organization until I got into my 20s, talking about failing a class because I missed homework and forgot when the test was, and didn’t pass. Yeah, organization, but let’s take it out of the aspect of academics, because that’s where a lot of people tend to get lost when we talk about organization.
Organization is more than just school, organization is the foundation on which life, and a successful life are built on. I know, I know it its very cliché but it’s very important to help make your everyday life easier. Organization isn’t just a tool for a nice house but a foundation block for adulthood. Again CLICHÉ! But for real it’s the truth. To make life feel stable in your twenties and beyond you need to develop a sense of organization. And from my life, y’all, from my life and experience to yours, let’s be real, Organization saves lives. Seriously, it saves lives. It saved me numerous times. So let’s really talk about it. People don’t hate organization. People hate having to figure out how to get organized from nothing. That, that there is usually people’s qualm. Learning how to be organized takes time and patience and grace with yourself. Becoming organized means really taking a deep dive into what you want out of life and what your goals are. Then assessing how to get to those goals by daily steps. And it’s really funny because social media will have you out here thinking based on these new gurus and self-help coaches that they can get you organized in five short steps or some 30-minute blog, video or tutorial let’s be real organization is a practice. Like any practice, it takes time to make progress. Everybody say with me IT TAKES TIME.
Step one in becoming an organized twenty-something is to take time with yourself and think about what you want out of life. Ask yourself who do you want to be? How do you want to live? What does success look like for you? What does happiness look like for you? The answer to those questions is going to be your driving factors in how you stay organized and how you organize your life.
Let me give you an example: for me, my education and my career goals were my main priority in my early 20s. Securing a great or financially secure job controlled what I did on a daily basis. However, towards the end of my 20s, I switched up. I am now focused on myself and who I want to be. Which means my daily goals are focused more on my spiritual relationship, my health (physical and mental), spending time with my dog, creating content that is beneficial to you all, and growing my business. So I have created tasks and things that I need to complete daily to help create a progressive step every day towards my goals. Most of them are simple things like take your vitamins, drink 80 to 90 ounces of water a day, read at least 30 minutes, do 30 minutes worth of movement, etc.. These things help me stay organized because they give me actions that keep me focused on my goals but also help me plan out my time throughout my day so that I’m not just wasting time on social media or watching TV (though I do plan when I watch my anime).
So that’s your first step into getting organized. I will see you guys back with post two of the organization series where we talk about how to take your goals and turn them into sizable realistic, daily actions, and a routine.
As Always,
From CJ With Love 💚
